Changed link colors to match the change made to lesswrong.com as per issue 185. --Wmoore 01:38, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't like the new colors. The fine distinctions in shades of gray and green are too hard to spot. --Vladimir Nesov 02:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Updated issue 185:

The new colours that wjmoore chose don't work well for the wiki.

On the wiki, green is already used for links to wiki pages that don't exist yet.

this gives us:

wikipage that doesn't exist: green
unvisited link: green
visited link: gray
hovering over link: light gray

the previous colour scheme for the wiki was:

wikipage that doesn't exist: green
unvisited link: gray
visited link: purple
hovering over link: black

if we want the wiki's colour scheme to be consistent with the main lesswrong site, then we'll neither need to change the main site's colours to match the wiki's colours, or choose a new colour for links to wikipages that don't exist yet. Red would work.

This would give us:

wikipage that doesn't exist: red
unvisited link: green
visited link: gray
hovering over link: light gray

I would just go ahead and do this myself, but I still haven't found how to change the colour for links to wikipages that don't exist yet. This might require editing some other part of the wiki's source code, other than http://wiki.lesswrong.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Common.css

For now I just reverted the wiki back to its previous link colour scheme, since I needed to be able to see the difference between links to nonexistent wiki pages and links to unvisited wiki pages.

As per the comments on issue 185 I have restored the use of red for links that don't exist and restored the new colors. I wasn't aware green was being used for new links when I made the original change otherwise I would have done something like this then.

Thanks. For the visited links, I would prefer a brighter green, more noticably different from the grey unvisited links, but the basic colour scheme is good now. --PeerInfinity 17:18, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
