I've been trying to improve this about page in line with the suggestions I made in my recent discussion post, but User:Grognor has been reverting my edits. I'd like to work with Grognor to find a version of the page we both agree on. It would be great to hear other users weigh in on this issue. I don't see the downside of making my suggested changes; even if Grognor does not think cultish appearances are a problem, others like me do, and it seems like we ought to be able to find a way to write the about page that avoids them and is just as effective in other respects as the old about page.
Full disclosure: I created an alternate Wiki account, User:BabySloth, thinking that Grognor might accept my suggested changes if they came from someone who wasn't me. (I even chose a username that I optimized for being unlikely to provoke antagonism...) In retrospect, I realize that this was a breach of Wiki etiquette that has hurt my credibility, and I apologize. I would prefer to participate wiki using some other account in the long run though... Grognor seems like a very disagreeable person to me (you can see him yelling and cursing in his reply to my discussion post, and we've also had a hard time coming to agreement during a private IRC chat I initiated for the purpose of coming to agreement). I'd rather not deal with having him be predisposed against my suggestions when trying to improve the wiki. Maybe an expert on wiki etiquette could weigh in on this? Would it be acceptable if I was to first delete my current account? --John Maxwell IV 23:43, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
