My name is Vadim Kosoy. Born in the USSR in 1983, immigrated to Israel in 1990. Married to beautiful Yulia Raichman. Our son Amos was born in 2010.
An autodidact with official education limited to a BSc in Math (Tel-Aviv University) and inofficial education spanning across math (differential geometry, algebraic geometry, category theory...), physics (quantum field theory, general relativity, a little bit of string theory...), a bit chemistry, a bit molecular biology and a bit complexity theory. Enjoy history (learned a lot from Wikipedia articles, mostly Western history between the 5th century and the 19th).
Professionally I'm an algorithm engineer specializing in computer vision, started as a developer (in 2004) and continued to management positions. Currently trying to create my own startup Metaqube.
I see great potential in LessWrong. I think we can become much more than an internet forum: a cultural movement steering history into a better future. I'm very excited about MIRI's FAI project and dream of contributing personally (I already try through things I publish on LessWrong; unfortunately I'm not getting much feedback so far). I think that UDT is a breakthrough in metaphysics and it's strange to be in a minority of people who understand it or even know it exists. I'm active in the Tel-Aviv LessWrong meetup which btw is great, drop by if you're in the area!
I'm completely open to receiving personal messages of any kind [except life threats and such of course :)]
I hate it when people downvote content only because they disagree with it. I think it ruins the community experience for everyone.
