You shouldn't just dump the quotes without attribution. There is no reason to expect that most of the quotes that could be places here would be by EY. A list of links to OB/LW quotes articles would be a start. --Vladimir Nesov 03:32, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Tags and the wiki
I don't like relying on tags, as they are not under anyone's, except for LW editors', control. Tags tend to be poorly-kept (with a few exceptions where they aren't), and are not easily maintainable. For now, Eliezer has placed them in order, but at some point they may deteriorate again, with no easy way of fixing that (calling an editor may be too much a trivial inconvenience for anyone to bother).
On another note, in this particular case, given that the content is in the comments of the quotes threads, the number of clicks through the tag page to the comments is actually more than if the references are given explicitly on this page. --Vladimir Nesov 18:50, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- You're right about the number of clicks, but I used tags so that the content wouldn't get out of date every month. Offtopic: We need a system whereby people other than me can edit Less Wrong tags, but in general it's hard to get code changes on the LW codebase.
